Alexis Edwards is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker-Supervisor (LCSW-S) and Certified Doula (CD) that specializes in perinatal mental health and trauma recovery. She completed her undergraduate degree in Child & Family Studies at Louisiana State University followed by a graduate degree at University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work. She is also a mother of a budding preteen, neurodivergent daughter, and dangerously curious toddler.

Alexis has specialized training in trauma and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders (PMAD) and utilizes a collaborative approach to therapy, offering continuous chances for consent and safe connection. In the midst of trauma, we often have our voices silenced and choices taken from us. Healing is a chance for your voice and choice to be restored.

She believes the body is a gift, a highly effective tool for safety and survival. The body can also keep us stuck in habitual pain or automatic reactions. Alexis strives to help clients activate the brain's powerful ability to mend itself and learn ways to come back to self.

Alexis uses an eclectic approach intertwining Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) with other body-based modalities including mindfulness, expressive arts, Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Conscious Yoga Method (TCYM).

Her hope is the more clients are able to build awareness around the body sensations, impulses, and emotions they may have, the more they can harness the lived wisdom the body has lovingly held to process through the difficult experiences they have endured.

Alexis is also passionate about helping new parents adjust to parenthood and seasoned parents deal with the challenges modern parenthood brings. Her own traumatic births and journey to motherhood inspired her to become a doula and focus her work supporting parents at the intersection of trauma and parenthood. Parenthood has a way of stirring up our past experiences. Whether we are uncovering facets of our relationship to our own caregivers or concerns for our children in relation to distressing experiences. She is ready to walk through the beautiful mess this stage of life can bring.
